Synopsis
Leal tells the story of woman who is driven back to the place where she was born. Told in magical realism style the main character describes her childhood memories in the times of feudalism when a lord and his vassals had a contract based on loyalty and shared a large estate where peasant families lived a humble life together with their farm animals. As if in a carousel the car circling around the farmland compares to her life, tangled around her conflicted feelings about the economic disparities between the two social classes she grew up in.The animal kingdom becomes an example for a more just life, where animals rule humans with kindness, respect, and equality.
