Alana Simões is a documentary film director. She graduated from the International School of Cinema and Television in Cuba (EICTV), specializing in Documentary Film. She also holds a master’s degree in Philosophy from the 17, Institute of Critical Studies. Simões has been a recipient of FONCA and IMCINE support programs on several occasions. As a juror, she has participated in the Havana International Film Festival, DocTV Latam, and DocsMX. She has also served on the board of directors of DOCMA (Madrid Documentary Film Association) and co-created the cultural event 3XDOC: Meeting of Creators, held annually in Madrid. She is currently a member of the academic staff at the Jesuit University of Guadalajara (ITESO), where she serves as creative coordinator of MOIRA, Transit Narratives Lab. She directed the documentary feature Cracked, nominated for Best Documentary Feature at the Ariel Awards.
