Beatriz Seigner was born in São Paulo, Brazil. She made her debut as a director with the short film Uma Menina Como Outras Mil (2001). She also directed two other shorts, Roda Real (2004) and Índias (2005). She directed the features Bollywood Dream (2009), the first co-production between Brazil and India, and Los Silencios (2018).

Toumani Kouyaté is a griot, who, in the African tradition, are storytellers. In addition to singing, dancing, playing, telling stories and photographing, he is a university professor and festival organizer in several countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and in Canada. Between Us, a Secret (2020) is his debut film as a director and screenwriter.
