Natalia Beristain graduated from the CCC film school with a degree in film directing. Her short film Peces plátano won the best Mexican short film award at the 5th Morelia International Film Festival. In 2010, she directed Entre guerras, a work that forms part of the alternative repertoire of the National Theater Company. No quiero dormir sola (2012) is her feature film debut.
