Eduardo Nunes was born in 1969 in the city of Niterói and studied at the Film School of UFF. In 1994, he directed his first short: Sopro, followed by four other short films, which together won more than 50 international awards. In 2012, he released Southwest, his first feature film, which debuted at the Rotterdam Festival competition, and was shown in 27 countries, winning 23 awards (including two Fipresci and Andrei Tarkovski awards).
He is known for Reminiscência (2002) and Southwest (2011). Unicorn (2017) is his second feature film.
