Carlos Kaiser Eichelmann is a Mexican filmmaker originally from San Luis Potosí. He studied film directing and production in Madrid, Spain. From 2006 to 2010 he worked as an executive producer on television series such as Mujeres asesinas and El equipo. In 2011 he founded his own production company, Wabi Productions. As an associate producer, he participated in the feature films El hombre que vio demasiado, by Trisha Ziff (winner of the Ariel Award for Best Documentary in 2016), and Feral, a project that won the Mexico First Award at the Los Cabos International Film Festival in 2018. That same year he wrote Zapatos rojos (Red Shoes), developed during a workshop mentored by Michael Rowe.

In 2020 Zapatos rojos received support from the Mexican Fiscal Stimulus for Investment Projects in National Film Production and Distribution (EFICINE) and was filmed in mid-2021. The film had its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival—La Biennale de Venezia in 2022. It was part of the official selection at film festivals such as Malaga (Best Cinematography Award), Goa, Marrakech, Morelia, Sofia (Best Film Award and FIPRESCI Award), Cinélatino Rencontres de Toulouse (Rail d’Oc Award and CCAS Fiction Award), Santa Barbara, San Diego, and New Orleans, among many others. Zapatos rojos also received five nominations for the Ariel Awards, including Best First Film.
