In this tender-ironic road movie, filmmaker Darío Aguirre shares his deeply personal journey from the country of his fathers to the country of his children. Originally from Ecuador, Darío relocated to Germany to be with his wife Stephanie, navigating a relationship marked by the constant presence of government agencies issuing him 10 visas over 15 years. A long trail of papers, stamps, permits, and restrictions connected Darío to Germany while keeping him at a distance.
When the mayor of Hamburg extends the unexpected offer of German citizenship, Darío seizes the opportunity to explore his dual identity. With humor and introspection, Darío embarks on a poignant cinematic voyage, delving into the complexities of love, identity, and belonging.
This film offers a unique perspective on the immigrant experience, making it a valuable resource for educators seeking to foster discussions about cultural identity and the search for home.
