El Festival Abrio con la Gran Ganadora de los Premios Goya
La segunda edición del Festival de Nuevo Cine Español en Vancouver celebró una apertura por todo lo alto con Blancanieves de Pablo Berger que, de hecho, obtuvo 10 premios Goya el pasado 18 de febrero en Madrid, entre ellos mejor película, mejor guión, mejor actriz protagonista a Maribel Verdú y mejor actriz revelación, Macarena García.

Ibero-americanism hits the Vancity screen
Suspense, sensuality, social commentary and Spanish rhythms await moviegoers at the New Spanish Cinema Week at Vancity Theatre from Feb. 22–28.
“Our goal is to continue to, via the films, share the Iberoamerican culture, and help to enrich the cultural diversity of Vancouver and Canada, with the support of our sponsors…we try to have an inclusive and diverse selection appealing to all tastes and interests, from both new and established filmmakers from Iberoamerica,” says Victor Martínez Ajá, director of Iberoamerican Images, the Vancouver-based organization responsible for the selection of the films and for coordinating the event here.

HOUSTON- El Festival del Nuevo Cine Español 2013, que arranca en Rice University el viernes 18 de enero, será un manjar para cinéfilos, con seis películas de géneros tan diferentes como el suspenso, el costumbrismo y la comedia, que desde su perspectiva reflejan la diversidad cultural de España.

El Otro Cine Espanol, al asalto de Nueva York
De Queens al local más pequeño de Williamsburg en Brooklyn, pasando por el MoMA o el Lincoln Center de Manhattan. Eso es CineArt Spain, un recorrido por las salas más dinámicas de los barrios neoyorquinos viendo algunos de los últimos y más variados títulos del cine español. Una iniciativa organizada por Pragda, institución cultural dedicada a distribuir y difundir las películas españolas en EE UU desde 2005, que se inaugura hoy en el First Look Film Festival del Museum of the Moving Image de Queens con Arraianos,de Eloy Enciso.

Nip U hosts Spanish film festival
NORTH BAY – A program to match professors who teach distinct subjects is behind Nipissing University’s first Spanish film festival beginning next week. “The students and the public are seeing these films for the first time. You couldn’t have gone to a movie theatre and watched these,” said Catherine Morabito King, Nipissing’s Spanish professor. Faculty of arts and science dean Craig Cooper created a “dialogue program” last year bringing together Morabito King’s Hispanic culture and civilization class with film professor Tom Hanrahan’s world cinema class.

Festival muestra a EEUU un cine español “vivo” pero en alerta ante recortes
Con parada en diez ciudades de Norteamérica, el Festival de Nuevo Cine Español llega hoy a Washington con la intención de mostrar una última cosecha fílmica “muy viva”, pero pendiente del efecto de los recortes públicos en esta industria cultural. Abre hoy la muestra en la capital estadounidense “Mientras duermes”, de Jaume Balagueró, uno de los pesos pesados del cine de terror español, que ve la filmografía española como “muy prestigiosa” a escala internacional, pero predice que se resentirá en los próximos años de la reducción de las ayudas públicas al sector.
