With Celeste Limón, Iker Ortega, Mateo Camarena, Sarahí González
In a small-town Mexican classroom, September arrives with the restless energy of things about to change.
Celeste, a second-grade teacher on the verge of a transfer, has only weeks left with her students, and in that narrow window, director Alana Simões finds something quietly extraordinary.
Cracked moves at the rhythm of children: sideways, suddenly, full of feeling.

“A moving documentary that shines thanks to its authenticity, revealing not only the fractures in the educational system but also in Mexican society.” – Rene Sánchez, Cine Sin Fronteras
Notes on the Film
“When asked to close my eyes and imagine myself, an image from when I was six or seven years old always emerges in my memory. It feels as if something very important about my identity became trapped at that age. I remember the exact color of my sneakers, the light coming through the barred windows of my classroom, the smell of my lunch, and the voices of several of my teachers. These memories evoke both happiness and sadness, as if they come from the moment I became conscious—when I realized that there is pain in the world.”
— Alana Simões, Director
